Sri Matangi Silks: Weaving Tradition into Every Drape

Welcome to Sri Matangi Silks, proudly rooted in Hyderabad, Telangana. We are passionate about preserving centuries-old weaving traditions through our curated collection of handwoven sarees—each piece a tribute to Indian heritage and artisan craft.

Our Handwoven Heritage Collection

We specialize in timeless sarees handwoven by master artisans:

Mangalagiri Silk

  • Originating from Mangalagiri in Guntur district, Andhra Pradesh, this weave is over 400 years old. It features a durable cotton foundation woven on pit looms, with distinctive solid zari borders and tribal motifs like Nizam and leaf patterns. Finished with bold, elegant colors, the plain body and striped pallu strike a perfect balance between simplicity and sophistication.

Gadwal Silk

  • Also known as “Sico” sarees (cotton body, silk border), Gadwal sarees from Jogulamba Gadwal, Telangana, are feather-light and intricately woven. Their exquisite zari pallu is so fine, some can fold into a matchbox. This heritage weave received GI status in 1999.

Pochampally (Ikat) Silk

  • Hailing from Bhoodan Pochampally and nearby weaving clusters in Telangana, including Yadadri-Bhuvanagiri district, Pochampally Ikat is synonymous with double-ikat craftsmanship—where both warp and weft threads are tie-dyed and then woven to create geometric and floral motifs. Recognized as a UNESCO tentative heritage cluster, it earned GI protection in 2005. Over 5,000 looms and more than 10,000 weaving families contribute to this legacy.
